ABOUT
Founded in 2007 by artists joined under the common interest of conceiving the theatrical creation in a processual and collaborative way, [pH2]: estado de teatro presents to the public an investigation of the theatrical language that fulfills itself in direct dialogue with philosophy, pedagogy, cinema and dance.
The group has produced six plays, a short film and a diverse range of activities made with the intent of sharing and reflecting on the collaborative creative process.
Along its trajectory, the group has received important cultural incentives, including: Lei de Fomento ao Teatro (2011/2015), a incentive law for fomenting theater, Myriam Muniz Award (2015), Itaú Cultural’s Rumos (2014), and the ProCultura Award from the Ministry of Culture (2012), and has worked in partnership with institutions such as SESC (Serviço Social do Comércio – Social Service of the Commerce), the Center for Culture of São Paulo, and the Goethe Institute. In 2013, the group was invited to premiere its play “Stereo Franz” at the Büchner International festival in Germany.
From 2007 to 2012, [ph2]’s work constituted a research on the possibilities of the tragic in the contemporary world, creating the trilogy: “Manter em local seco e arejado” (Keep in a dry and ventilated place), “Mantenha fora do alcance de crianças” (Keep out of the reach of children) and Átridas.
Ending those investigations about the tragedy in 2012, the group started developing new researches which culminated in the creation of “Stereo Franz”, based on the dramaturgic works of Georg Büchner.
After that, [pH2]: estado de teatro began the creation of “Projeto 85 - a dívida em três episódios” (Project 85 - the debt in three episodes), in an international exchange partnership with colombian group La Maldita Vanidad and mexican group Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol. The work is composed by a short-film ("O Rosto da Mulher Endividada" - The Face of The Woman in Debt), a fictional play ("O Rosto do Homem Endividado" - The Face of The Man in Debt) and a documental play ("O Rosto do País Endividado" - The Face of The Country in Debt).
Lastly, the group created "A Sagração da Primavera - Quadros de uma dívida não paga" (The Rite of Spring - Frames of a debt not paid), which establishes a direct relation of the theatrical language with those of dance and cinema.
